Connecting WhatsApp
Connect your AI team to WhatsApp using the WhatsApp Business API, so users can chat with your agents via WhatsApp.
Prerequisites
You need a WhatsApp Business API account. This is available through:
- Meta for Developers (Cloud API)
- Third-party Business Solution Providers (BSPs)
Setting Up
1. Get Your API Credentials
- In the Meta Developer Dashboard, go to your WhatsApp app
- Under API Setup, copy the API Token (permanent token or temporary test token)
- Copy the Phone Number ID associated with your WhatsApp business number
2. Add a WhatsApp Channel in Workspace
- Open your team in the editor
- Click Add Block and select Channel
- Choose WhatsApp from the channel type dropdown
- Paste the API Token
- Enter the Phone Number ID
- Save and start (or restart) the team
3. Configure the Webhook
Your team's container will expose a webhook endpoint for receiving incoming messages. Configure it in the Meta Developer Dashboard under Webhooks.
The WhatsApp Business API has its own pricing from Meta. Workspace billing covers compute and LLM usage, but WhatsApp message fees are charged separately by Meta.
